 Pete Saul, Lady Jess' skipper, is a marine researcher with 20 years chartering experience. He has been diving the Poor Knights since 1969, and knows the Northland coast intimately - both above and below the water. Lady Jess is a classic kauri launch, built by John Gladden in Auckland in 1961- a clean, comfortable and seaworthy vessel well equipped with safety, navigation and fish-finding equipment.
A full sized stove and large freezer provide varied meals for trips of up to a week, and Lady Jess' icebox is put to good use with Pete's extraordinary nose for finding fish.
