Ranui was built at the Norwegian whaling station on Stewart Island in 1936 and has served as a spy ship, royal yacht, island trader and oyster dredger. Her massive kauri and totara construction continues to shoulder aside the years, and after a complete refit she is one of the best appointed offshore vessels in New Zealand.
The understated elegance of her large saloon is awash with books, CDs and videos. The three staterooms have full ensuites and the wheelhouse is fitted with worldwide communications equipment. Owner, engineer and skipper Richard Allen is an ex Olympic sailor, and with a former restauranteur as chef and cultural guide, your safety, comfort and full enjoyment of your time on the water are absolutely assured. |
